1. Is SRF an acronym? Ans. No. SRF is not an acronym. the company was, HOWEVER, initially set up as Shri Ram Fibres in 1970 to manufacturer nylon tyre cord fabrics. Over the years the company diversified into businesses other than technical textiles and hence the name changed to SRF in 1990. 2. What are Technical Textiles? Ans. The Technical Textiles are high-performance fabrics that are mainly used for non-consumer applications such as tyres, conveyour belts, awnings, tarpaulins, grain covers, pond liners, pitch covers, hoardings & signages. 3. What all SRF does manufacture under Technical Textiles Business? Ans. SRF's product basket for technical textiles contains nylon tyre cord fabrics, polyester tyre cord fabrics, belting fabrics, coated fabrics, laminated fabrics, fishnet twines and industrial yarns. 4. What are tyre cords fabrics? Ans. Tyre cords are reinforcement material embedded in a layer of rubber all around the tyre. 5. Does SRF produce tyre cord fabrics for radial tyres? Ans. SRF is the first and the only company India to have set up facilities for Polyester Industrial Yarn which are used in radial tyres. 6. What are Belting Fabrics? Ans. Belting fabrics are used as reinforcement material in conveyor belts and other mechanical rubber goods. These conveyor belts are used to transport large quantities of materials especially in mines, cement and steel industries. 7. What are Laminated Fabrics? Ans. A laminated fabric is a combination of a base fabric (polyester in our case) laminated with a film (PVC) either on one side or both sides. 8. Does SRF cater to the sports industry? Ans. SRF manufactures synthetic coated coated fabrics which among other things are used in making pitch covers. Most of the test playing grounds in India boast of having the pitch covers made of SRF coated fabrics, providing testimony to the quality of our products. 9. Does SRF manufacture 134a? Ans. In fact, SRF is today the only producer of HFC-134a in India, competing with the likes of DuPont, Honeywell, and Solvay for the domestic market. 10. Which year did SRF get its CDM project registered with UNFCCC? Ans. SRF's CDM project was registered with the UNFCCC in December 2005. 11. What is the potential of SRF's CDM project? Ans. SRF's CDM project has the potential to mitigate 3.83 million metric tonnes CO2 equivalent Green House Gas emissions annually.
